Fifty Convicts Break Out of Bull Pen at Michigan Prison
Jackson Michigan September 2 Fifty convicts confined for riots yesterday broke from the bull pen and destroyed hundreds of dollars worth of furniture and machinery in the prison factory and kitchen. One prisoner was shot in the arm by a guard. Warden Simpson called in the state militia and city fire department to quell the disturbance. Remaining inmates resumed their screeching and pounding last night, keeping nearby residents awake for four nights.
