A frontier scene unfolds with a shepherd’s lost sheep and a stubborn wagon team. The Rev Mr Sighal learns to coax the cattle by loud cursing, aided by Mr Small, a parson, and an Indian assistant, ending in a near-fatal yet merciful rescue and a lesson on providence.
A narrative describes a dangerous wagon mishap on a rough descent as Sig Sack Smith and team face an uneven ford and shifting loads. Parson Small, urged by an anxious observer, frees a tangled wagon and assists with unloading while an Indian guide watches, urging labor to prevent a topple. The scene ends with a cautious recovery and the Parson questioning if all is done correctly.
A Buffalo Courier correspondent recalls Pat Royal sinking below waves after an earthquake last century. Ten reef patches mark the spot where the sea claimed lives, and a glassy surface hid the depth where divers reported strange ruins. An American diving company salvaged artifacts from a submerged bell tower now in a museum.
