Knox township school case reversed on a technical point
In District Court the Common Pleas verdict was reversed over whether Kirkpatrick filed a proper certificate. Judges unanimously held Robinson was Director and his acts binding, nullifying the vacancy resolution. The case returns to Common Pleas to hear evidence on the point. A thief took $115 from Thomas Phillips’s pocket book while he attended church near Linton Mills.

The bullet entered her side near the eighth rib and passed through the body near the spine. Death of Rev. Dr. John Burns Obituary
Rev. Dr. John Burns died after paralysis during a visit to his daughter in Cadiz. Born 1808 in Ohio county West Virginia, he served as a Methodist Protestant minister in Cambridge Steubenville Cadiz and Zanesville, led Muskingum Conference as president, and served as Ohio penitentiary chaplain in 1878 for two years before retiring. He remained respected as a prominent minister and citizen.

Pioneer of Guernsey County Dies. Longtime Town Resident
A Guernsey County pioneer died at his home last Thursday and was buried Saturday. Born in 1799 in Middletown PA, his family moved to Ohio at age five, first to St Clairsville then near Middlebourne where they ran a hotel. He later settled in this town, remaining over thirty years. His life tied to local business and he left many friends. Funeral services were led by Rev Milligan with Revs McFarland and Locke assisting.
