The Rosebud Agency reports Indians surrendered 149 rifles for sale to fund farming tools. The Chesapeake & Ohio opens the Louisville to Washington line. Ohio AG Nasu denies incorporation of a liquor dealer union. The Army of Tennessee selects Cleveland for its October 1583 reunion with Sherman as president and officers named.
Vatican instructions to Cardinal McCabe urge Irish Catholics to publicly declare their cause separate from secretaries. London reports hint at plots against the Irish Government and Liberal leadership, with Cabinet ministers guarded by special constables. Arrests linked to the assassination continue.
