Washington May 12 The Senate Committee on Privileges and Elections met to consider the Turpie case and unanimously concluded that the Indiana House’s title to its members’ seats under the case’s circumstances is conclusive upon the Senate. Therefore those who voted for Turpie in the election are presumed entitled to vote and Turpie is entitled to his seat.
A large railway syndicate was formed by Canadian and American magnates with a capital of 100 million dollars to construct lines into Brazil. The project aims to open regions rich in diamonds, metals, and agricultural resources to commerce and colonization.
