People’s Banks in Germany Create Strong Credit Associations
The formation of registered credit associations in Germany has proven highly successful, enabling members to obtain advances, credit, and goods while sharing liability. They form capital from shares with reserve funds, admit trusted members, and maintain high credit. Interest rates to borrowers averaged 6.57 to 6.29 percent from 1878 to 1882.
