Bank Teller Convicted in St Louis Embezzlement Case
Ony Ex Owen, once a teller for the Third National Bank of St. Louis, was convicted on the sixteenth for abstracting about $209,000 over eight years. The funds were invested in butter and cheese, grain, and cotton ventures. A Downrevue Cal dispatch notes Forest City burned, E Miller died, and downtown losses run into hundreds of thousands. A Texarkana fire destroyed a compress and 800 bales of cotton with $100,000 loss. Bloomington Indiana also suffered a major fire. The Ohio Republican State Central Committee called a June 5 convention in Columbus with representation based on votes for Townsend in each county.
