President Harrison sent nominations for the Cabinet to the Senate. Blaine, Windom, Proctor, Tracy, Noble, Wanamaker, Miller, and Rusk named for state, treasury, war, navy, interior, postmaster, attorney general, and agriculture. The eight selections were quickly confirmed in ten minutes.

Port Townsend March 6 The British bark Port Gordon loaded with general cargo from Liverpool for Puget Sound ports was wrecked last Wednesday forty miles south of Cape Flattery. Four sailors drowned in the incident. The vessel was valued at 60000 dollars and the cargo at 144000 dollars, fully insured, with ownership by Balfour Guthrie and Co of Portland.
