A Mrs Emerson and seven children drowned during a May flood near Clinton Arkansas. Emerson, an Van Buren County pioneer, escaped with two children as water swept through their home. The mother and five more children perished. two other children survived with their father clinging to a tree until dawn. The family home is wrecked and livestock losses were heavy.
