Funeral arrangements for John Howard Payne announced

Terrible Deed Of An Insane Mother

A Carlisle dispatch reports Huntsville Luzerne County Pennsylvania where Mrs. Martin Douglas and her three children were found dead in their home with throats cut. The mother apparently killed the children then herself in a suspected act of insanity. an inquest returned a verdict of murder followed by suicide.

HELENWOOD Tennessee May 29. A bloody encounter between three Smith brothers and John and Riley Cecil with pistols occurred in town. Both Cecil brothers were killed while the two Smith brothers were wounded. Four years earlier the Cecils killed the Smiths' father and two years later the Smiths killed two Cecil brothers.
