Wesley Johnson, twenty four, was hanged in Napolean Ohio for the October 23 murders of George W Williams and his wife on a farm seven miles north. He confessed to chopping Williams’s head with an axe and striking Mrs Williams after she was down. A babe was left in the bed for two days before discovery.

Tunnel Collapse Kills Nine in Liconter Pa
Nine men died and eleven were seriously injured when scaffolding failed in Knupp's tunnel on the South Pennsylvania Railroad near Liconter Pennsylvania. Workers, mostly Italians, were excavating about one hundred feet from the main entrance when the disaster occurred.
