New Orleans Banker Frank Hatch Dies at Seventy Four

Frank Hatch a former politician and banker in New Orleans died at his residence opposite New Orleans on Saturday morning at age seventy four. A Vermont native he moved here before the war and was a Slidell lieutenant in Louisiana politics. He served as Collector of Customs and handed federal property to Confederate authorities, leading to confiscation and sale by General Butler. After the war he joined Sam Smith & Co. in New York and New Orleans, and his death returns confiscated property to his family.

First Negro Naturalized in Delaware Faces Vote Challenge
