Page suit over owed wages ends in jury verdict
Amos Page, a colored man, sued S H Culbertson for 1.50 after Bratton’s 3.75 was placed with Culbertson. Page won 3.75 after a Saturday deposit led to dispute. Justice Carpenter presided. Joseph Beymer and Culbertson acted as lawyers. The crowd found the case entertaining.

Hartford Area Collision Injures Two Women
Mrs John Dickinson and Miss Archer of near Hartford were thrown from a vehicle on a breaker in Aplin lane last Saturday. Mrs Dickinson suffered severe bruises and wardrobe damage while Miss Archer dislocated a wrist. The horse bolted after the crash but no further damage occurred.

Death of Edward Milner in railroad accident at Layton
A telegram reports Edward Milner aged 25, formerly of this place, fell from a freight car near Layton on the Connelsville branch of the B and O railroad. Surgeons amputated a leg but he died during surgery. He was buried at Scott's Mines after funeral by the Odd Fellows and Knights of Pythias. his brother also died in a railroad incident years ago. He was unmarried.

J. V. Ferguson arraigned on cruelty to animals charge
J V Ferguson appeared before Justice Carpenter and was recognized in 200 dollars after waiving examination. The case stems from buying eight sheep from Barney Malone near Cassels Station. eight died during transport and Ferguson refused payment, leading Malone to sue for the purchase price. The civil suit is set for next Saturday before Justice Carpenter.

The colored people of Cumberland and vicinity plan a camp meeting at Secrest's Grove one and a half miles east of Hartford Station on the C W N Y R R starting August 4. A special train will depart Cambridge Sunday morning August 5 at 8 o clock for the event and return in the evening. Eminent ministers of the colored W M church will attend and a Lady evangelist from Hillsboro Ohio will speak on Sunday August 5.

Tramps attack Charlie Faupel near stock pens
The Bellaire Independent reports two men assaulted Charlie Faupel son of Adam Faupel near the stock pens on Thursday forenoon binding him and throwing him into a box car on the B and O railroad. He remained bound for two or three hours before being discovered.
