Toronto Ont Jan 8 Sergeant Mul holland of the Sixty-eighth Regiment and longtime Toronto Registry Office worker died on the 6th. An old Peninsular War veteran he commanded the party that carried the body of the Duke of Richmond to England and served as Lord Fitzroy Somerset's orderly at Waterloo. He fought in fifteen general engagements without a wound. He was ninety one.
Omaha dispatch dated the 9th reports the death in Omaha of Rev George F Stelling formerly of Massillon Ohio. He once led the Reformed congregation in New Philadelphia Canton and Harrisburg Pa and was noted for his reputation as a lecturer.
Canadian banks advance exchange rates to 4.8419 dollars and 4.871 cents per pound due to scarce bills and high remittance demand to Europe for yearly interest and dividends.
In Minersville a jail wedding joined Susie Bradley and Dennis Pike after Pike shot Bradley following her feigned jilting scheme.
