Clarence Verigot entered Mrs Lizzie Swim store in Fort Worth Texas on the evening of the 27th and purchased a fuse and lit it then used the burning match on fireworks. An explosion set the store and adjacent building ablaze with Mrs Swim dying in the fire. Weight fled and was not captured.
