Earlier, two freight trains collided at Moyer Pa on the southwest branch, injuring six trainmen with Enginemen Emmett Johns and Harvey Shomar badly hurt by jumping.
In Williamsport Pennsylvania a new Market Street bridge span not fully fastened collapsed under a heavy timber load. A team and four men fell about thirty feet. William Somers was killed. Burt Thompson John Daly and Frank Cable sustained nonfatal injuries after ignoring a warning not to cross the bridge.
