Horrible R R Accident at Tehichipa

A Southern Pacific express wrecked on a steep Tehichipa grade after brakes were removed. Four miles down grade a sleeper derailed and piled into a blaze. Twenty one died, many burned, including seven identifiable victims. twelve remain unidentified as an inquest proceeds.

Sinking of the Cimbria in the North Sea Coasts Major Losses

The Cimbria of the Hamburg American Line sank after collision with the Sultan off Borkum in the North Sea. Of 490 aboard only 56 known saved, with lifeboats hindered by ship heel and fog. Survivors cite fog and delayed signals. Diamant and Theta aided rescues. Sultan shows a seven foot bow hole.
