In Stevens Point Wisconsin yesterday ten men worked inside a waterworks standpipe ninety feet high. One wall gave way sending five men to the stone bottom. Charles Myers of Stevens Point Harry Sills of Chicago Albus and Jack Ainsworth of the east were killed. John Smith a local worker was injured. The foreman narrowly escaped by leaping through a manhole. The other five men above had a narrow escape.

Fred Ackin of Ferry Point, a fireman aboard the steam Mary Ethel, elopes with his sister the mother of six. She had been living with a Niagara man named Davy and visited home three months ago. Ackin’s wife pleaded. he ignored her. Mrs Acklin left and fled to Picton. The pair fled by boat and rail across the bay toward the Grand Trunk road east.
