Tur Sprague farm and mansion at Canonchet Rhode Island sold at auction on the 15th by order of trustee Chaffee for 62000 to Frank D. Moulton of New York. A bridge to the place was torn and patrolled by William Sprague armed with a rifle. An auctioneer stood on the wreck to complete the sale.
Georgia senator B Hix died at his Atlanta residence on the morning of the 16th in his fifty ninth year. He began serving in the U S Senate March 5 1877 and his term would have expired March 3 188.
