Starting July 1 local letter mail from the post office for local delivery will cost two cents instead of three. Mail to Germantown Milton or Dublin remains three cents as those areas are served by other offices. Officials hope the rate cut will boost mail revenues and may extend to two cents nationwide soon.
Mr and Mrs Barrett marked their 23rd wedding anniversary with a Sunday dinner hosted by Mr and Mrs George Barrett and attended by Mr and Mrs Herbert Hodson and daughter of Richmond Mrs Flora Clark and Mr and Mrs William Warner of Dublin Mr and Mrs Ross Riggs of Connersville Mr and Mrs William Oldham Mr and Mrs Arthur Hodson Mr and Mrs Clifford Oldham and sons and Mr and Mrs Ray Nugen and son George of Dunreith Also visiting were Mr and Mrs Frank Working of Indianapolis and Mr and Mrs Walter Davis and family.
The Washington Cheerios under Mrs Olin Davis plan a July 25 picnic for the baby. Junior leaders Enid Albertson Wilma Slonaker and Frances Murley head projects. Vocational class in Washington township has 17 members led by Rex Murray with officers Lowell Caldwell president Donald Dillon vice president Arthur Bertsch secretary Henry Parker treasurer. Numerous visits and meetings mark the week with community guests and school news including a new principal Floyd Hines for Cambridge City Jackson township schools. Children’s Day program at the M E church featured a web canopy and student performances led by Thelma Russell with Miss Cora Brown honored for 50 years of service.
The community honors Eleanor Newman who after forty two years in Milton and Cambridge City has retired. Recognized for dedication, fair discipline, and talent development, she served on county district and state committees and shaped many students through music and art. Her room was a joyful, respected place and many feel a wonderful teacher has passed from the community.
The 4 H girls club met last Friday at Miss Loraine Schutz home with thirteen members present and leader Miss Mauloce. Readings by Miss Schutz and Esther Elliott, a cookie demonstration by Katherine Newkirk, and songs led by Marguerite Olvey were featured. The next meeting is scheduled for Lincoln High School.
Ralph Harris of Winchester Kenneth Cook of Connersville Harry Winter and Dale Ellsbury left Monday morning to visit the Century of Progress in Chicago.
Mr and Mrs J Bruner former manager of Danner Bros Variety store and resident of Dunkirk Ind spent a few minutes Sunday visiting with I J Harmeier and family in this place.
Charles Diffenderfer and Bruce L. Peters escaped serious harm when their car collided with another at a main highway intersection while returning from the Hagerstown golf course. Peters was thrown toward the windshield and Diffenderfer’s car suffered heavy damage.
Robert Fausett of Lake Wawassee is spending several days at the home of his sister Mrs. O. V. Winks and family.

The Woman's Service Guild of the M. E. church will sponsor an ice cream festival on the church lawn Saturday evening from 6 to 9. Ice cream, pie and cake will be served by waitresses in costume and a musical program will also be given.
A well attended session of W R C No 151 last Friday heard delegate Ruth Sprong report a good State Encampment. Florence Ritz of Litton was elected Department President and Muncie won the 1934 Encampment. The corps will next meet July 14 at the Red Men’s hall.
Dublin residents exchanged visits with families from Cambridge City Knox ville and Indianapolis. The Dublin Diggers 4 H club met at Martha Protsman home to work on rejects and learn towel making with plans for the June 27 meeting.
The Kimes and Dist No 6 school reunions join as one event on Sunday July 16 1933 at Rummel's Grove two miles NW of Cambridge City. Merton Grills of Hagerstown will read a complete community history. All former students and friends are invited for a basket dinner and a day with old school mates.
Mrs. Alva Sarver and her son Thomas visited Hopewell on Saturday, staying with her parents Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Enyeart.
The Lutheran church of Pershing schedules an ice cream and cake social on the Aid Lawn next Thursday evening July 6. Proceeds support church programs and community outreach. Local residents and families invited to attend.
Mrs W F Johnson entertained her Bridge club Tuesday with guests Mrs Robert Cornthwaite of Richmond Virginia and club members Mrs Paul Hill Mrs Ben Johnson Mrs Charles Lowry Mrs Earl Clevenger Mrs John Curlett Mrs McKinley Leapley and Miss Mildred Locke in attendance.
The H. C. H. P. H. club met with Miss Margaret Hutchinson for a three day camp last week. Mrs. Hutchinson surprised the group by making ice cream. Members present included Mary Marguerite Polk Marguerite Clark Jennie Hunt Irene Viola Haskett and Margaret Hutchinson.
The city marks streets with bright yellow lines for auto parking and crosswalk traffic. It urges an ordinance banning truck parking on Main street to free spaces and reduce cluster light globes.
Sunday evening excitement rose in the flower beds of Harry Bachmann and Lorin Ulrich as a traveled visitor with a stiff walk appeared. Neighbors gathered while all neighborhood dogs were penned. Robert Myers attempted to coax the creature, calling it piety, but the polecat remained unfriendly.

The Lincoln 4 H club of Jackson township held its 1933 organization meeting at the high school. Officers elected: Robert Ulerich president Nolan Allen vice president Fred Conklin secretary treasurer Marion Oldaker reporter. Ulerich spoke on the Shakamak state camp near Jasonville in June funded by Kiwanis clubs. A round table discussion followed and the club will meet again June 10.
Manford Kuhn, a University of Wisconsin student, returns home Saturday for summer vacation to join his parents Mr and Mrs Earo n.

Floyd A. Hines of Eden has been chosen by the school board as principal of Lincoln High School. He previously led Eden school at Greenfield for five years and has taught at Greens Fork and Wilkinson high schools. He holds A B from Butler University 1925 and M A in school administration 1932. He is married with two children and active in the Hancock County Teachers Association.
Mrs Pearl VanBuskirk is expected home this week from Kansas City Kansas where she has been visiting her sister for two weeks while enroute from a two year stay in California.
