Empire land settlement for ex servicemen proposed
A committee formed February 15 1917 by the Secretary of State for the Colonies urges a central executive authority to supervise and assist emigration of ex service men within the Empire. It recommends an imperial board with home and overseas representation and plans to absorb the Emigrants Information Office and license emigration societies and brokers. The report stresses timely action before demobilisation and seeks coordinated information distribution and special duties for migrating disadvantaged youths.
