An OCR fragment from the Cairns Post mentions various local terms and place names including Hinterland, Moeni, Tevnisfail, Macknade, and references to agents or posts. The readable text is fragmented and lacks a coherent event or clear人物 to summarize.
The piece argues Alsace Lorraine underpins German industrial power, with Lorraine mines supplying most of Germanys iron ore. It warns that future Franco British coal ore exchanges could shift industrial primacy, urging coal ore reciprocity to prevent future war.
The piece argues that Britain should retain and govern former colonies after war, contrasts British leniency and justice with German cruelty in Africa and the Pacific, cites harsher German colonial policies under Peters and von Trotha, and asserts British rule is built on understanding native beliefs and fairness, unlike German ruthlessness.
The speaker rejects returning colonies to Germany and condemns Peters and von Trotha for cruelty. The motive for victory is freedom for Europe and for unhappy races crushed under German rule, not to prop up German markets or profiteering.
