Haughton River farmers press for cane mill at Inkerman
A deputation led by Mr Lennon and Mr Walton urged government support to build a central cane mill at Haughton River to supply Inkerman and surrounding districts. They argued a mill would end tramway needs, boost 31 200 tons of cane this season, and reduce reliance on Pioneer and InkerTan mills. They proposed government assistance or a lease option backed by security from cane profits and existing assets.
