Life Sentence For Dr. Chapman
In Sumter superior court Dr. Charles X Chapman was given a life term by Judge Littlejohn after a jury found him guilty of killing Walter Wade Weldon. White Men Get Gang Sentences
A. A. Hill and W. F. Mann of Girard Alabama were found guilty of holding up the Farmers and Merchants Bank cashier W. E. Greene at Junction City last spring with a recommendation for misdemeanor punishment. Judge Howard sentenced them to twelve months on the chain gang without a fine. VIENNA Sept 18 Fire late this afternoon between here and Montezuma on the Atlanta Birmingham and Atlantic destroyed a cotton gin seed house cotton warehouse meat market and damaged the AB and A depot. The fire started at the gin and spread quickly. Byromville has no fire department but citizens formed a bucket brigade. Loss not yet estimated.
