Pace Honored by Georgia Leaders on Eve of Retirement

In Americus at the Martin Theater the Third Congressional District public and state officials paid tribute to Congressman Steve Pace as he nears retirement to again practice law. The event, led by the Sumter County Farm Bureau, featured gifts including a Sheffield epergne and camellias, plus a bronze plaque from former local boys. Senator Walter George lauded Pace for agricultural service and public integrity, while Georgia Farm Bureau president H. L. Wingate and Under Secretary Clarence J. McCormick highlighted his record and impact on rural life. Pace thanked supporters and reflected on his 14 years in office.

Nazarene Revival Guest Minister Opens Ten Day Series

Woodmen Society Improves Crowell School With New Indoor Fountains

The Woodmen of the World Insurance Society of Taylor county installed two indoor drinking fountains at Crowell School last week, eliminating outdoor water access. The effort, praised by teachers, pupils and parents, aims to expand sanitation improvements to all rural Taylor county schools, led by district manager T. E. Tante of Butler.

Death at Roberta Claims Minister And Newspaper Editor

Rev Crawford Moncrief 61 longtime Crawford County resident and Congregational minister died at his Roberta home Tuesday. He founded The Times and The Georgia Post and served as editor until his death. Funeral held at Roberta Methodist Church with Masonic honors. burial in Roberta City Cemetery. Survived by wife Annie Culverhouse, daughter Mrs Eugene Huggins, sons Crawford Jr and Alton, eight grandchildren, brother M B Moncrief, and aunt Mrs Lucy Lewis.

Fire Rates Home Of Cameron Family Landmark Of Community

An historic Cameron home two miles south of Butler, once a social hub and alma mater for local professionals, was destroyed by fire while occupied by a Black family led by John Kelley. The house, tied to Civil War era gatherings and the Butler Male and Female College era, was built by John A. Cameron.
