Death of F A Garrard in Columbus Ends Notable Career
Frank A Garrard prominent attorney and longtime Columbus resident died at Wildwood after months of illness. Born June 1 1876 he married Sara Gardiner in 1900 and is survived by two daughters two sons and three grandchildren. Also survived by two sisters one brother and several in laws. A distinguished lawyer and elder of First Presbyterian Church he served Muscogee County as a commissioner until recently turning the page.

V A Smith a Talbot County policeman was acquitted Friday of murder in the shooting death of Frank Butts near Geneva last July. The jury deliberated two hours after a trial that began Thursday in Talbot Superior Court before Judge C F McLaughlin. The defense argued self defense as the officer and Leaf Butler faced the accusation. Butts died days later at Columbus Hospital.

Talbot Superior Court Adopts Adjournment After Major Civil Case

Dunn was acquitted of possessing and transporting whiskey. The grand jury finished their work and adjourned.

Mrs. Sallie Rowe Windham Dies After Long Illness
Mrs. Sallie Rowe Windham, wife of G. R. Windham, died at her Butler home about 9 o'clock yesterday morning after years of declining health. Born October 15, 1865, she was 67. She was active in the Primitive Baptist church and charitable work, survived by her husband and several nephews and nieces. funeral services at Bethel Primitive Church conducted by Elder S. H. McCorkle. Pallbearers named from local families. Edwards Brothers to oversee arrangements.

Yielding to Major Operation. Young Lady Dies on Operating Table
Miss Eunice Taunton, 25, daughter of Mr and Mrs G N Taunton, died on the operating table in a Macon hospital during a major operation. A popular musician who had won violin prizes, she lived five miles southeast of Butler and was held in high esteem. Her funeral, led by Rev W J Childres, was held at Bethlehem Cemetery Friday with loved ones present.

Sympathy Extended For Mr W A Wood In Mother’s Death
Sympathy extends to Mr. W A Wood on the death of his mother at her Ft Valley home. Mrs Adolphus Wood died Wednesday night at about midnight in Oakland Heights. She was 50 and long a member of St Andrew's Episcopal Church. The funeral was held at 3 pm at St Andrew's with Rev R R Claiborne and Rev N H Williams officiating. Interment followed in Oaklawn cemetery. Surviving are five children: Mrs H W Lee of Mobile Alabama, W A Wood, Miss Nettie Faye Wood, Ralph Wood and Se Havel Wood, all of Port Valley.
