Angus Markette Dies in Dawson Police Chief Was 1937 Appointee
Angus McDonald Markette 658 head of the Dawson Police Department died suddenly of a paralytic stroke at his home Thursday night. He had served as police chief since January 1937 and had earlier worked with G. W. Dozier Co and Maloof's Department Store. He married Emma McNeil Dawson on June 5, 1927. Surviving are his wife four sisters and four brothers and a niece.

Federal jury convicts Ray and Floyd Bruce of a $25,000 Guthrie Kentucky postal robbery in which a Black mail messenger was killed and a policeman wounded. Judge Swinford imposes 57 year terms and $11,000 fines each, orders swift transfer to Alcatraz. Floyd arrested in Normal Illinois and Ray in Ellaville Georgia.

Rural electric lines energized in Peach and Houston counties
Project Manager Jas D Cooke reports 250 miles of R E A lines in Peach and Houston counties were energized at 2 p m last Friday. The lines serve Bonaire Wellston and Kathleen in Houston county and extend north of Perry and south of Byron. Peach county completion nears and will be energized after construction. Two crews install meters on homes with approved wiring inspections by inspector W H Liggett of Hawkinsville.

Grand Theatre Reopening Planned After Fire
The Grand Theatre in Reynolds under B M Forbes management closed two weeks due to a fire in the projection room that destroyed one machine but did not damage the building. Forbes suffered burns while fighting the flames and is recovering at home as new equipment is installed. The theatre will reopen in about three weeks with improvements.

Taylor County officials announce a motion for a new trial in the murder case of S. T. Mosley colored, convicted of killing his wife with an ax near Reynolds. The hearing is set for Saturday June 3 at Columbus at ten in the morning.

Heath Rites Held For Talbot County Woman
Mrs. M. C. Heath, 80, lifelong Talbot county resident, died Saturday at her Junction City home after a five month illness. Surviving are her husband M C Heath and five sons G M Heath Butler B Heath Junction City O L Heath G A Heath W C Heath all of Atlanta. Also two brothers O J McCrary Geneva and G J McCrary Seattle and six grandchildren. Funeral services were held Sunday at 3 pm at the Frances E Butler Memorial Methodist Church in Junction City, with Rev. W R Smith officiating, burial in Heath Cemetery near Pallbearers included H B Heath Jr Robert Harris Evin McCrary Marion Harris S N Harris Jr and O J McCrary.

Funeral Services Held For Butler Lady's Father Near Tifton
Funeral services for Mr. C. F. Graves aged 60 and father of Mrs. A. L. Swain of this city were held at Mt. Zion Baptist Church near Tifton Saturday afternoon. Graves died suddenly Friday morning while working near his home in Tift County. He is survived by his wife and six children.
