Death of W. A. Gammage at Americus home
Mr. W. A. Gammage aged 74, father of Mrs. J. B. Pennington, died Saturday night at his Americus residence after months of illness. Born in Sumter county, he belonged to Central Baptist Church. Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon with Rev. John Joyner and Rev. R. L. Bivins officiating. Pallbearers were grandsons Elton Clements, Woodrow Clements, Gammage Shivers, Brooks Gammage Jr., Earl Gammage, and J. L. Pennington. Surviving are his widow Lizzie Bertha Gammage, three sons E. B. Local Negro Woman Arrested Friday Charged With Violating Postal Laws
Tiny Lockhart a Negro woman from northern Taylor County was arrested Friday by Deputy U S Marshal G W Walker on a bench warrant based on a grand jury indictment from Albany U S Court. She posted $500 bond for appearance in Columbus in September, carrying her two week old baby to Columbus. She and another Black woman are charged with using the mails to defraud in relation to a mail order incident.
