Three Die In Macon Hospital One Night

Macon Georgia May 12. Three people died at Macon Hospital after a night of accidents and violence. Minnie Davis wife of James Davis a Camp Wheeler soldier died from a skull fracture after a motorcycle collision on the Houston road. Beulah May Jones an 18 year old black girl was run over by a motorcycle driven by John George on Vineville avenue. Marshall Gentry son of G F Gentry of Skipperton shot himself in the head during a period of ill health and despondency. Mrs Davis and Mrs Maud Smith were injured in motorcycle accidents when riding with men friends. John George is under arrest likely charged with involuntary manslaughter. Gentry’s death shocked Skipperton neighbors.

Camp Gordon Soldier Killed By Negro's Gun

Carl Ware of Camp Gordon was fatally shot on a highway by a man named Coot Mullin. Howard Ware was wounded. Matison Ware and the wounded brothers were brought to Woodbury before Carl died in Atlanta. Bloodhounds track the fleeing assailants after a prior threat. Carl Ware had just married.

Carload of liquor seized near Savannah during post prohibition raids

Savannah police seized a carload of bottled whiskey valued at $85,000 and arrested J. H. Bailey C. C. Tuten and two African American men. The operation occurred eight miles from the city on the Seaboard Air Line Railway as agents recovered 900 cases billed as empty barrels and captured six vehicles.

Death of Mr J H Bryant by self-inflicted pistol wound

Local farmer Mr J Horace Bryant aged about 43 dies from a pistol ball to the left breast fired by himself at his Norwich area home near Butler. He left a wife Miss Hattie McGinty and one child, with brother G F Bryant and his mother as survivors. The event occurred about four o clock in the morning.

Wealthy Farmer Dies in Auto Crash Near Macon

Robert W. Jones of Pelham Georgia wealthy farmer was killed this afternoon on the Houston road seven miles south of Macon when his car was struck while refueling. His auto overturned and he became pinned beneath it after the collision with another vehicle.

Macon Officials Die After Car Hits Train at Telfair Crossing

J L Jessup Macon fuel administrator and J J Cobb insurance and loan partner were fatally injured when the Ford they rode in collided with a Central of Georgia passenger train at Telfair street. Cobb died later at Williams Sanatorium. Jessup died at 11:15 p.m. Both men were taken from the scene after rescuers responded. the accident’s exact cause remained undetermined. Cobb, longtime banker and Centenary Sunday school superintendent, left a legacy tied to Macon civic life.
