A Southern Railway collision near Tallapoosa left one person dead and twelve injured as trains collided in a remote area. Officials confirmed the fatalities and injuries and began investigations into the cause of the wreck.
A collision between Southern Railway passenger No. 30 and work train No. 29 near Tallapoosa left one worker dead, twelve injured, and passengers shaken. Victims include H. Hogan of Edwardsville and W. F. Austeth of Piedmont with others from Birmingham Atlanta Muscadine and Philadelphia, Pa. The crash occurred one mile east of Tallapoosa at West's Crossing as the eastbound flyer struck the rear of the westbound work train. Georgia Tech students on board narrowly escaped harm. Engineer W. A. Spinks of Atlanta and Conductor Baxter were among those hurt.
