Georgia lawmakers seek re election in May primary

More than half of Georgia legislators about 154 will be nominated in the May 14 Democratic State Primary. About 100 of the 205 house members and 54 senate members lack opposition or were nominated earlier in county primaries. Five counties will choose legislators in the general election without nominating primaries. Talmadge and anti Talmadge forces appear content with the developments. Gov. Talmadge urged a cooperative legislature for the next two years. A Talmadge aide said they expect to be in as good or better shape next year. John Greer says he is satisfied with the situation.
