By order of the Ordinary the First Tuesday in May 1949 probate sale will auction 344.45 acres across parts of Schley and Taylor counties. The property includes the east half of Lot 153 Schley, the west halves of Lot 154 and the west half including the southeast quarter of Lot 167 in Taylor, bounded by Louise Terry Jeff Johnson Cromer and J O Smith. Proceeds go to creditor debts and distribution. The administrator Thelmon Jarrell of Carrie Grundy deceased conducts the sale at the courthouse door for cash within legal hours.
R L Brown declares he has sold all interest in Brown Brothers to J H Brown and waives further claims. The business originally operated by W M Brown J H Brown and R L Brown will have debts paid and rents and profits collected by J H Brown. Date April 12 1949.
Thomaston April 30 Dudley Johnson radio and TV repairman was arrested April 26 on a murder warrant after the death of J A Lester of Atlanta from an automobile truck crash near Thomaston on April 14. Johnson was released on $1500 bond after sheriff request and judge Byars ordered his release. The 75 year old Lester never regained consciousness after the crash and died April 23 in an Atlanta hospital.
Sheriff T E Faircloth retained his office after a quo warranto ruling by Judge C W Worrill. The case brought by T C Ingram and Homer Lockett argued he was not a Randolph County resident during prior years. Attorneys for both sides waived a jury trial and await possible appeal to the state supreme court.
Taylor Court of Ordinary on April 5 1949 cites all concerned to show cause at the May term why Maggie M. Jones widow of J C Jones and four minor children should not receive twelve months support. Appraisers filed their return and the matter proceeds in court.
Grady G. Amerson, guardian of Clyde A. Amerson, minor, has applied for discharge from guardianship. Objections must be filed by the first Monday in April 1949. otherwise the guardian will be discharged. This March 6, 1949.
