Prominent Taylor county citizen Mr T B Joiner died at Montgomery hospital at 9 am after months of ill health. Born Rupert community son of G W B Joiner and Martha Hobbs Joiner he was a farmer merchant and real estate dealer. He served on Butler Methodist church board and led choir and property maintenance. Funeral at Butler Methodist Church Thursday at 3 pm with Rev Ted Griner Rev J M Carmichael and Rev Charles Cunningham presiding. Interment in Butler cemetery. Survived by wife Maude Byrd Joiner son Dr Horace Joiner of Douglas Ga and grandsons Gree and Al Joiner of Douglas. Gardner-Watson Funeral Home Montezuma in charge.

Cancer killed 3994 Georgians last year while the American Cancer Society Georgia Division spent over 93 million dollars aiding indigent patients. The national research committee redirected over 53 million to Emory Medical College for research. Former Silvertown Residents Tax Free in 1958
Silvertown residents in the merged Thomaston area will owe no ad valorem taxes for 1958. The B F Goodrich Company agreed to fund schools and water meters for the new district for the current term. Nine city workers will join Thomaston payroll as municipal property, including two schools, transfers occur. Thomaston started police and fire protection after vote results.

Marooned Husband Harold Lovvorn Survives Eastern Snow Storm
Harold Lovvorn, a local resident, was among 800 stranded last week in Middletown Pennsylvania. His truck was stuck in 40 inches of snow on the Turnpike from Wednesday to Saturday, he stayed at a Howard Johnson restaurant with others, then left Sunday for home via Dover, Delaware. He works for the USS A C transport Co. with a home base in Warner Robins Georgia.

Born July 24, 1876 in Taylor County he moved to Macon County 37 years ago and was a farmer and Free will Baptist minister. Funeral 11 a.m. at Harmony Free Will Baptist Church with Eld.
