Tifton Youth Loses Leg In Train Crossing Attempt
Willis Dixon 16 son of Mr and Mrs W G Dixon of Tifton lost a leg when he and Carlos Butler tried to cross a standing fast freight at the Tifton crossing Monday at 9 PM. Dixon, a paper carrier for the Macon Telegraph, was en route to Wilson Allen’s home for a paper sale checkup when the accident occurred. Butler, a collector, aided by calling an ambulance to move Dixon to a hospital where the leg was amputated above the knee.

Pace Bill Parity Measure Gets House Right Of Way

Butler area highway foreman dies in timber accident
Mr Blan Garrett fifty maintenance foreman for the State Highway Department in Taylor county was fatally injured Wednesday morning near Butler while supervising loading of a pine timber onto a truck. He died at Montgomery hospital from a fractured skull. Surviving relatives include a son in the U S Navy and several siblings. Funeral arrangements pending arrival of his son.
