Rain continues in Mauk Georgia with local notes on tax receiver Griffith, a near complete new home for SE Wall, and visits by Rev J F Ford, J B Holley, and others. Community events include church preaching by Rev J F Ford, a home talent play for the W O W lodge, and notices of marriages, outings, and advice on everyday kindness.
Howard Ga March 8 citizens list visits and social notes. Marion Wade spent time with grandparents in the area. Many residents attend visits, sickness notes include pneumonia and grippe. Prohibition lecturer J B Holley spoke at the Methodist church, with several locals attending.
Mrs. D. W. Wilson is improving after illness. W. J. Willis was with friends on Sunday. Mangram Casey traveled to Howard on business Saturday. Arthur Bickley visited sister Mrs. Paul Bickley. Mrs. J. J. Ellington of near Howard visited relatives Sunday. T. C. Amos and J. R. Sams were out among friends Sunday. Mrs. J. C. Bazemore ill and hoped to recover. GOSSIP CLUB.
Health of this community fairly good at present. Farmers plan for another crop. The night run at the factory was abruptly discontinued leaving many without work. The school will close in four weeks. Various local visits and moves described. Fire destroyed Lena Youngblood’s home. origin unknown. Several residents visit relatives near Delta and Marshallville.
Allen Downs and wife joined Drue Averett's family at Mauk for a Sunday visit. Randol Waller and Arizona Waller with Eva Montgomery visited W. H. McGinty, who hosted a singing entertainment. Attendees included Homer and Walter McGinty, Charlie Montgomery, Weaver Woodall, Sim Harbuck, William Hart, Robert Hanson, Henry Blakely, Ruth Hanson, Hattie and Mary McGinty. Several other locals stopped by Junction City and Norwich for visits amid the rain.
Local notes report Mrs W H Emerson and daughter Bessie Lou shopping in Ideal on Wednesday. Rev John Young led services at Bethlehem last weekend. Claire Pickard hosted relatives in Tazewell. G C Perry and G D Johnson visited Ame r icus. Prayer meeting Sunday afternoon was well attended. Miscellaneous ads mention life improvement, housing, and loan offers.
Miss Blanche Smith has return ed home after two weeks' visit to friends and relatives in Macon and Atlanta. Mr. Bonald Bazemore spent Sunday in Butler with friends. Mr. Herman Amos was the guest of Lewis Sanders, of Carsonville, Saturday. C F. Smith, of Macon, is the guest of Mr. L. Smith and family. Robert Scandrett, of Carsonville, passed through our section 1 Monday enroute to Howard. OQ. M. Bazemore spent Tuesday with Mrs. S. M. Bazemore. Don not forget to come to Sabbath School every Sunday and bring someone with you.
In Tom's Creek many farmers are falling behind on tasks. Grady Thompson and sister were guests of Martin Parker and Miss Lala Parker. I B Vann spent the weekend with brother John Vann at Potterville. C W Bickley visited Oliver Gassett Sunday. Effie Vann was guest of Miss Julia Bickley. Frank Stringfellow of Garden Valley visited D A Parker. O O Vann and Joe Wall went to Thomaston Tuesday. Luna Vann is ill. hoping for a quick recovery. J T Beeland visited Potterville Monday. Mrs C L Funderburk of Potterville visits sister Mrs J T Beeland this week. George Childs and Mack Mathews of Butler attended preaching at Union Sunday evening. Jim Morris and wife spent Sunday with son Will Morris.
