During a thunderous Saturday afternoon Mr J J Shealy in charge of the soda fountain at H J Porter Drug Store was struck by an electric shock that felled him. He received medical aid and was moved home, suffering only minor burns and recovering by Monday to the relief of friends.

Prominent Woman Killed by Lightning on Farm
During a severe storm Friday afternoon Mrs. Louisa Stewart, 75, was killed when lightning struck an oak tree in her yard at a farm near Taylor and Schley counties. Found beneath the tree after the rain ceased, she was the widow of Eli Stewart, a prominent local farmer and miller. She leaves two brothers, a sister, stepchildren, and many friends. Burial was at Bloodworth Cemetery after funeral services conducted by Elder Knott.
