The County Agent reports 566 contracts receiving 29,796.90 dollars in first rental payments for 1938. Most funds go to banks in Butler, Reynolds and Charing. others await Washington processing. Second payments follow after land measurement in July, with a final check in December.

The telegram from Commissioner Be Internal Revenue Washington and issued Monday by Internal Revenue Collector W E Page informs cotton ginners that from June 18 1985 the cotton ginning tax rate is six cents per pound of lint. Ginners must apply .06 cents per pound to cotton ginned on or after the effective date.

Convict Dies in Unavoidable Accident on Highway Work
Early Wednesday morning at about 7 near Howard a colored convict Snooks Stallings 21 was fatally crushed by a moving truck while alighting. He had served ten months of a 1 to 2 year sentence from Coweta county and the body was shipped to Newnan for burial after preparation. Officials at the local camp deplore the accident as unavoidable.

Former Marion Co. Man Chester W Fouche Dies in Atlanta
Funeral services for Chester W Fouche who died Sunday at his Atlanta home at 11 am were held in Tazewell Marion county city. Aged nearly 47, he was born in Tazewell moved to Columbus married Bernice Heath in 1921 then to Atlanta four years ago. He is survived by his wife son Chester III his parents Mr and Mrs Chester W Fouche Sr and several brothers and sisters.
