Jim Head of Cleveland reports his house was struck by lightning a third time despite having wiring checked grounded and lightning rods after two prior hits. The homeowner believed rods would prevent damage, but the latest strike caused further concerns.
Leaders of three local Negro groups filed a petition with the Columbus city commission and the Columbus Transit Co seeking desegregation of city buses. They argue the transit system engages in interstate commerce by crossing the Chattahoochee River into Phenix City Alabama and call for integration under the law. The group is led by Rev. E. D. Bryson and E. J. Jenkins for Muscogee County Registration Council Non-Partisan Voters League and the Citizens Committee, with about 800 members.
