Blind Girl Is Honor Graduate of Mercer University
A 21-year-old Georgia woman who has been blind since birth was named the honor graduate of Mercer University. Nitalee Tillman of Baxley, a graduate of the Georgia Academy for the Blind, received the university’s highest honor at the June commencement in the university chapel. She and 25 other seniors earned Bachelor of Arts degrees from Dr Spright Dowell, university president.

Sugar Black Market Ring busted in New Orleans and Atlanta
Five suspects including 17 year old Hugh Bacon and William Atkinson were arrested in New Orleans and Atlanta for operating a black market sugar ring. Authorities seized 48,000 counterfeit sugar coupons estimating 240,000 pounds of sugar with a retail value of 16800 dollars as they loaded a truck bound for Atlanta.

Barnesville, Ga. June 17 Miss Ora Lee Howard educational census taker reports oddities among the population. The Queen is an 18 month old daughter of a Negro couple and the Prince is an 18 year old Negro youth. Three Negroes over 90 years old and a spry 95 year old woman are noted. A World War I veteran has three sons and a son in law in France. One family has four sons named Billy, Will, William and Willie.
