Local notes recount visits by Montgomerys to Steeds and Long family gatherings in Mauk and surrounding areas. A. B. Hill and family mourn the loss of their home by fire and thank neighbors in Mauk Charing Norwich and Cass Garrett for aid. Rev. O. B. Tally travels to Charing for Friday events.
A memory of opening a small rural schoolhouse followed by recess. Children play under a giant oak while older students engage in a game of sheep and wolf and a lively drop the handkerchief ritual.
Mrs. Redkamp of 2404 Herman St. in Wovington Kentucky says she advised a neighbor whose child had croup to use Foley’s Honey and Tar. After a couple of doses the child improved noticeably, and the remedy is described as relieving coughs colds and whooping cough and being sold everywhere.

Miss Leda Slaton visits sister Mrs. L Hill and many locals attend social visits and travel to Columbus and Oxford. Emory College commencement announced for Louise Sealy. Lightning damages depot records but avoids fire due to closure.
Reports from Five Points list residents traveling to Thomaston and Atlanta for church and convention events. Many locals, including Jarrells and Shumates, attend commencements, weddings, and family gatherings. Several youths and graduates return from Fort Valley and Columbus. local ailments and housing moves are also mentioned.
We regret several sickness cases in the community this week. Mr. Moly Austin visited Mr. Orin Scott Sunday. Mr. J A Scott entertained many young people Saturday night with games and dessert. Mrs. S A Montgomery is very sick. Mr. W R Taylor hosted Mr. Claud Ruffin of Crisp Texas as a guest Sunday.
J B Goode motored to Howard Saturday. James Jinks and little sister Coria Lee spent the week end at Junction City. Misses Anna and Clyde Goode and Mrs Lathan Waters shopped in Howard Saturday. Bernard Bazemore Albert Smith and Myrtle Waters Clyde Goode went to see the fortune teller Sunday. AC Adams and wife spent the week end with J R Adams and wife at Howard. George Parker and wife spent Sunday with Mrs N J Waters. Mrs Lathen Waters spent several days last week with J R Goode and family. Dock Byers spent Sunday with Sam Byers. Estelle Waters and Anna Goode attended the entertainment at J H Adams at Wesley. Lee Adams and wife spent Sunday with Mrs Wilbourn Culverhose. Kate Martin returned home Saturday after spending two weeks with her aunt Mrs Sam Byers. Mrs Frank Waters returned to her home at Tangent.
