Macon June 1 police investigate an insurance plot involving Mrs J C Powers who was arrested for allegedly inducing Earl Manchester to kill James Parks for 14000. Powers had collected 8000 on Sam Wright life policy and insured a farm hand, a house and stock fire losses over 25 years. Authorities say Manchester claimed Powers offered 1000 to kill Parks, Parks body found May 28 with two bullets. both confess but Powers later repudiated. Bibb County grand jury to consider charges June 17 with speedy trial possible if indicted.
Columbus June 2 John Delberni known as Dr McCoy who built a fortune via real estate schemes is back with the Muscogee gang after a liberty spell during which he passed at least one bad check He had been deemed insane by a superior court jury and later adjourned sane before resuming crime in Columbus He allegedly escaped the gang then persuaded a merchant to honor a $25 check as his confidence shines through in old tricks
Mary Persons files a notice claiming several bathing suits and a rubber cap were taken from her lake property without permission. She demands immediate return of the items and warns of forthcoming legal action. She states she has the guilty party's name.
A Night in Japan will be presented by the Sophomore Class under Miss Margaret Benns directing Friday evening at the school auditorium.
A 1929 church program dated June ninth lists hymns and scripture readings led by Rev. J C Adams and Rev. H. C. Griffin. Choirs include Mrs Bazemore, Mrs Chapman, Miss Wilson, and others with pianist Jean. The service features The King Eternal and Solid Rock hymns, followed by graduates: Woodrow Amos, Elizabeth Childres, Frances Downs, Naomi Foy, Marie Garrett, Malcolm Gaultney, Wyman Harris, Tom Harmon, Anna Heath Blenford, Jarrell Jack Jarrell, Sim Montgomery, Vendle Parks, Rita Peacock, Wallace Riley, and Edna Smith.
Napoleon Garrett, who served eighteen months of a five year sentence for manufacturing whiskey, has been paroled through his attorney Hon. Walter E. Steed. He completed time with the Taylor county convict squad where he was described as a model prisoner, trusted and ever found worthy.

Rev J A Smith agent for the South Georgia Conference orphans home at Macon will occupy the pulpit at the Methodist church Sunday night at 8. Special music is planned. He formerly served in this section and earned many warm followers during his early ministry. Public invited.
The high school commencement exercises are underway and will include the baccalaureate sermon by Rev. J. C. Adams at the Methodist church next Sunday morning at 11 o'clock.
The junior music club staged The Clever Conspirators in a crowded school auditorium. Director Mrs Julian Edwards led a praised performance with sparkling costumes and flawless music. Special attention fell on Mildred Davis, daughter of Mr and Mrs Albert Davis, noted for enhanced appearances and a Tuesday encore.
A tragedy occurred Monday near Fishling's mill when a buggy with R. T. Crump and his family was struck by a mule. The mule backed the buggy over a fifteen foot drop after frightening by an oncoming car, crushing the child who died hours later. The father and brother were unharmed.
The Methodist and Baptist churches will not hold morning services this Sunday at 11 o clock due to the postponement. Evening services at 8 o'clock will proceed with League and B Y P A activities before the sermons by Rev J C Adams of Atlanta. The commencement sermon will be preached at the Methodist church.
The Recital Tuesday evening featured Miss Willie Frank Weaver of Reynolds performing musical readings to a receptive audience. Supt. A. E. Shearer presented St Cecilia Junior Music Club awards to Mary Tom Gray for diligence, Virginia McCants for second in diligence, and Kathleen Peed for best work in theory and harmony.
Upcoming high school program features the humorous number A Man and His Wife as part of A Night in Japan. The show runs tomorrow in the school auditorium with student performers delivering lighthearted entertainment.
The ceremony in Adel yesterday joined Hon. W. E. Steed, prominent Butler attorney and former mayor, to Mrs. Lula McPherson Wilkes of Adel. The couple planned a wedding trip to Indian Springs and North Carolina, with intimate relatives and friends in attendance. Steed’s career and ties to Taylor and Talbot counties are noted as part of the wedding story.
The Butler High School commencement for 1929 will be held Monday at 8 o'clock in the school auditorium. Principal A. E. L Shearer will present diplomas to the graduating class, and Prof J. Martin of the state educational department will deliver the literary address.
