Butler social notes list Mrs J R Beeland in Columbus and visits by Miss Elizabeth Foy and Miss Bertha Hall. Promotions include lighting and electric hardware by Ashton B Jones and Baker frying pans. Local trades include fruit canning 73c a dozen, crochet cotton 14c, lace and embroidery, and colored childrens dresses 2 to 14. Also mentions Shriners ceremony in Macon and Wesleyan commencement.
Mr R E McCants suffered severe crush injuries to his left foot after his ankle was caught in the chain of a motor truck while moving cotton from a warehouse. He is recovering at home with Dr Edwards attending, and friends extend wishes for a speedy return.
Mr A J Amerson, long a farmer in Mt Pisgah, has purchased from Mr J T Carson the stock of general merchandise and will run the Carson stand near the depot. He moved his family to the Carter place on Oak Street and invites friends to call when in need of goods.
Butler's first car lot shipment of peaches went forward Saturday and another on Monday from Messers A. W. White and T. B. Joiner orchards. The crop this year is about 500 cars with quality above average for early varieties. Southern Fruit Distributors of Macon, represented by O. C. Adams, will aid marketing. Adams notes large returns on some shipments and expects rapid movement through six weeks of the season.
