Macon July 23 a 24 hour river search failed to locate 20 year old Tom Scott Goolsby of Forsyth who disappeared Friday night after visiting in Macon. Fishermen and Bibb Monroe County officers followed leads as they dragged the Ocmulgee River while weighing robbery murder or voluntary disappearance theories. Fingerprint expert W G Dean leads the inquiry.

Taylor seeks oust of Ben Rainey from Georgia House
In Columbus Georgia July 21 J A Taylor filed a quo warranto petition in superior court at Columbus seeking to declare Ben Jasmes Rainey ineligible for the Georgia House of Representatives. Taylor alleges Rainey was Marion county school superintendent, defeating Taylor in the last primary. Judge McLaughlin set the hearing for July 30 in Columbus. Rainey will remain in the seat pending appellate review.

Arrest Following Tuesday Night Liquor Bootlegging Bust
A county farmer was arrested by Sheriff McGutlin and deputies Tuesday night after officers found a 10 gallon keg of liquor in his car. The companion fled during a foot chase. Authorities say the liquor was produced in the county and destined for local bootleggers in Butler and Thomaston. The arrestee, a well known young farmer, faced the late hour capture after hours of surveillance. Names Homer Bagemore and J B Goodwin are noted in the report. Inroad Against Whiskey Traffic Continues in Taylor
On Wednesday morning officers, who halted the whiskey operation Tuesday night, destroyed three stills in the neighborhood where those involved reside. A 100 gallon still and two 0 gallon stills were removed, according to Sheriff McGuffin.

Washout on public road injures Mrs Bigbie in wreck
A car carrying Mrs. Bigbie and her family plunged into an open ditch on a rain swollen public road six miles southeast of Butler on the Butler Potterville route. Mrs. Bigbie suffered a broken nose and facial cuts while other occupants escaped serious injury. The crash occurred near the W. W. Douglas home and delayed rescue for hours as the area is sparsely settled. The party was en route to a Sunday school picnic at Miona Springs and was later treated in Butler. Mrs. Bigbie's condition improved with time and she received many expressions of sympathy.
