Remove Refuse Fruit From Peach Orchard
Curculio and brown rot are under better control in Georgia peach orchards than since 1918. Growers should enforce sanitation by stripping orchards after picking and removing ground fruit. Any fruit left decays, seeds infection and breeding grounds for brown rot and curculio, risking next year’s crop. Dispose by burying with quicklime two feet deep. Fort Valley Laboratory urges immediate action.
