The nation's first bale of 1950 crop cotton was ginned near Houston Texas and sold for 2585 dollars to owner Pablo Rivera. The 600 pound bale set a new price record, far above the regular market value of about 207 dollars. Rivera is a Mexican farmer from the Rio Grande area near LaGrulla Texas.
