Negro Mysteriously Disappears From Taylor Co. Jail
Jim Welcher colored, about 20, jailed on November 27 for alleged murderous assault and robbery, vanished from Taylor county jail on New Year’s Eve night. Authorities, including Sheriff J. M. Bone and Solicitor Hubert Calhoun, pursued leads with no definite outcome. The body, bullet ridden, was later found in woods near Butler with no clear evidence of the culprits.
