Julian Gill Wins Boxing Bout In Cordele Monday
Julian Possum Gill of Pilaville and formerly of Butler won his eighth straight boxing match by decision over Kenneth Findham of Albany in the 127-pound class. Motorcade Tour To Promote Federal Route 19
A motorcade sponsored by the Atlanta Tampa Highway Association will depart Thomasville on Feb 22 and tour towns along Route 19 to St. Petersburg then return via Lakeland Bartow Lake Wales Orlando Ocala Gainesville and Lake City. Dooly County Boy Found Dead In Shallow Water
In Vienna on February 18 a 10 year old Dooly County honor student, Albert Lee Christmas Jr., was found drowned beneath a railroad trestle near the city limits. Sheriff Cas Vinson said no one is in custody and possible involvement by schoolmates is being explored. The autopsy indicated the boy was alive when entering the water, and police called the death murder. The coroner’s jury ruled death by drowning caused by unknown persons, with the Christmas boy described as bright and well regarded by his teachers and father.
