Columbus Roberts Appointed to State Milk Control Board

Columbus Roberts Sr. was named to fill a seat on the Georgia State Milk Control Board, asserting the board favors distributors. He predicts a 5-3 vote to establish a price differential lowering store bought milk to 20 cents per quart, and urges an immediate session. Shotgun Shell Explodes Killing Leesburg Child

Mildred Fore two and a half year old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Starling Fore was killed when a shotgun shell they were playing with exploded. The mother and an older sister were in the yard and hurried to find the child in the house.

Augusta report states Col. F. S Griswold began an investigation into reports of brutal treatment of prisoners at Camp Gordon disciplinary barracks. Col. H. A. Adair said the inquiry would continue through Monday after Augusta committee inquiries and a newspaper report.

Seven Arrested In Griffin Bug Racket Raids

Griffin police and county officers raided a bug racket in Griffin Georgia seizing about 20 000 lottery tickets. Seven African American suspects were arrested including the ticket writers and pickup man. Tickets ranged from one cent to six or eight dollars. The raids followed months of information gathering and began after officers arrested a woman with tickets.

Thomaston Father and Son Die in Home Fire

A Thomaston man Corbett H. Ivie and his 19 year old son died from fire and smoke in their Silvertown home after a kerosene can exploded while building a fire. Hoyt M. Ivie died later in a Macon hospital.
