Fulton County official sues Atlanta Journal for libel
R L Doyal chairman of the Fulton county commission files a $703000 libel suit against the Atlanta Journal company and Journal Reporter Franklin Nix. He claims the article naming him among gamblers in a Mrs Helen Carpenter testimony was false and damaged his reputation. Doyal notes a long career in Atlanta schools and camps and says he never gambled.

Two Weekend Robberies Net $5 000 at Macon
In Macon two residential burglaries over the weekend caused losses exceeding 5000 dollars. At M. M. Kaplan’s home a wall safe was pried free and removed with 2000 dollars in cash and 1200 dollars in jewelry inside. At H. J. Starr’s home a small black safe was taken from a bedroom and discarded outside, containing about 2400 dollars in cash. Family members were at church when the burglaries occurred.
