Duck Named Pastor of Lee Street Church
Americus August 20 Presiding Elder Jas H Wilson of the Americus Methodist district has appointed Rev Alfred Duck as pastor of the Lee Street Methodist church succeeding the late Rev J B Grahl who died in an automobile accident near Sardis Georgia. The Rev Mr Duck will serve until the next meeting of the South Georgia Conference in November. Ordained by the Lee Street Methodist church a little more than a year ago he will be serving his first pastorate as head of the church where he has been a member for several years. He has preached several sermons at the Lee Street church and has served as supply preacher in other churches of this section.

Americus Aug 24 A rise in advance dormitory reservations accompanies the Georgia Southwestern College opening Sept 15 with the new boys dormitory finished at 820000. The fireproof two story building will be used first this fall. Wheatley hall is being remodeled with built in wardrobes. Terrell hall partitions torn to make a girls parlor. Plans for a $52000 gymnasium are approved but funds are not yet released. Future dining hall and additional gymnasiums are hoped. Dormitories open Sept 15 with Freshman registration Sept 18 through 27 and classes begin Sept 22 with final full-course registration Sept 27.
